April 27th last Saturday here!!!!

The end of the month is just around the corner, and we are even closer to heading back up to cooler weather.  Today was hot, 109 at 3:30PM.  Tomorrow is going to be another warm one also.  We are so looking forward to getting out of here.  The weather got to Cyndy today so we sent her home around 3:00PM; don’t need her getting sick on me.  She has gotten everything pretty much boxed up, for us to load tomorrow.

We are hoping to be out of here by Monday morning or Tuesday morning, it just depends on how it goes with us packing our trailer.  I am betting that it will be Tuesday morning.  Just wanted to put a short note out so people know what is up with us.

We are planning on be in Washington tell the morning of the 23rd, then we head to Coos Bay for the summer of coastal playing and some work.  Other than that keep an eye on us as we head north, we may be stopping by your place.

April 21st one week to go!!!!!

It is amazing when you plan to move how fast time fly’s by.  We are planning on heading out a week from tomorrow and still have a ton of things to get done before we can even think about moving.  I have my list for outside and Cyndy has her list for inside.  We have been sitting in this spot for just over 6 months.  I hope the tires are still round, if not after a few miles they will be.

It is true, spring is here in the desert, and they say spring temp’s here are just below 100.  Today it was knocking at that temp.   We are supposed to be in the middle 90’s to just below 100 all week.  Ok, it is time for this little fat man to start heading north.

We are looking forward to heading home, but before we get there, I think we will be taking a truck to Coos Bay with a load in the back of it.  Cyndy will be driving that one while I am pulling the trailer.  She really doesn’t like driving all that much, but she will do OK!!!

We are hoping to be back in Washington by the 3rd or 4th of May.  See everyone soon.

April 18th

We had to work for a while yesterday, but today we have no rentals and so we sleep in a little.  Got up had a great breakfast of french toast.  After breakfast we looked out side and the wind was still blowing pretty hard, so we wrote off going out in the RZR, but we wanted to head over to the Discovery Center to say good by to a great friend Louise.  She takes care of the discovery center and help us out a lot this year with things to look for and just visiting with her.
After we left the Discovery Center we head towards the big town of Borrego Springs. Borrego Springs is fast becoming known for its magical ( some would say surreal) menagerie of freestanding life-size sculptures of creatures that roamed the valley millions of years ago.  Three sculptures of the prehistoric creatures that were predecessors to modern-day elephants were placed on Borrego Springs Road just south of Big Horn road on April 10. The statues, crafted of metal by Ricardo A. Breceda of Perris, California, have created quite a buzz in the community.
The project doesn’t end with the gomphotheres. Avery has asked Breceda, a former construction welder who created his first metal dinosaur 10 years ago, to sculpt camelops, sloth, turtles and other creatures that once roamed Anza-Borrego.
Here are a few of the sculptures that we found today.  I hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

This last sculpture start on one side of the road, went under it and came up on the other side.  The work and time this gentleman put into these are out of this world.  If you are ever near Borrago Springs you have to see this fine art work.
We also got a few pictures of the cactus's blooming, I can't remember their names but the blooms looked great.  Beside pictures tell a story all by them self.

It is something that these plants are putting out such beautiful flowers with no rain in over two months.

This cactus flower is on a Ocotillo cactus, I do remember a couple.
I thought this looked kind of cool when I took the picture, but now I am wondering what I seen.  Oh well one dead cactus!!!!

We had a great day and the wind is starting to die down, I am glad for that.  Anyway we have 12 more days and off we head north.  We have had a great fall, winter and the start of spring here in the desert.  We are looking forward to coming back next year.  We have made some great friends and look forward to coming back.  Their is so much more to see here and we have just scratched the surface of this area.  Plus we have a lot more geocaches to find.

April 16th

When we go down to the ocean, I use to like it when the wind would pick up and we could fly our kites.  But here in the desert 50 mile an hour winds are really to much.  Last Sunday we watched the wind pick up and I could not see the AM/PM Arco station across 86 from us.  The dust was so heavy in the air when I got up Monday their was a light film on the truck.  But then when I got up to 60 MPH it all went away.  The last two days it has been windy from 20 to 40 MPH and not going to let up tell sometime Thursday.
You just have to believe me but threw that dust storm is mountain.
We can usually see the lake out their some where.
OK, so it does blow here in the desert, I just didn't know it blew like this for four days in a row.  Usually it has been just for a day then the weather is back to normal, dry and warm with very little wind.
Cyndy got back home here on Monday night, yes everything is back to normal, and Turbo & I are happy she made it back OK!!!!!
Here are a few pictures of our grand kids while Cyndy was back home to see the grand kids.
Morgan is sure growing like a weed, Cyndy said that she is already crawling.  I can remember when our kids started crawling then walking and then running everywhere.  The do grow up fast.
This is our oldest grand son Mikeal, and boy is he turning into a good looking kid.  I wish Makenzie would of stood still because all her pictures were blurry.  I am looking forward to seeing them when we get home next month.
No, MJ did not break her leg.  She is having walking cast put on to correct her walking.  She walks on her tip toes all the time and this is supposed to help.  At first she thought it was neat tell she had to walk.  She told Nana that she can't run in her cast.
Jared is doing great, Cyndy stayed at our daughters house a few day while home and got to spoil him.  He is working on becoming a great wrestler.  As you can see here he is being weighed in for his match.  He is really doing good.
As you can see Nana got her hugs in when ever she could.
Well it is hard to believe but in just two weeks we will be heading north for the summer.  We are going to spend about three weeks in the Spanaway area before heading to Coos Bay for the summer.  I am looking forward to moving, this is the longest we have been in one spot for a long time.

April 14th

Well it is hard to believe tomorrow Cyndy will be back here in Salton City, with me and Turbo.  I don’t know who misses her most, me our Turbo.  Every time we come home from work he looks everywhere for her.  Well to more know more looking she will be here.
He is keeping Cyndy's side of the bed warm for her, even with it 90 degrees here the inside temp is 73 degrees.

It is hard to believe that a week went by the fast, I have been very busy with the shop and making a fast trip over to Pismo last Tuesday.  I think I am getting to old for that kind of trips, oh well someone has to step up to the plate and it might as well be me.  Besides Cyndy was gone and I might as well do a road trip.

We really did well this last Saturday, I wasn’t expecting a lot of business but we were really busy Saturday, it has been the best Saturday we have had in a while.  I don’t own the business but helping them meet and doing better than last year is what it is all about.  I am glad we ran across Steve and Laverne they are really good people and we both like working with them and making this business a good one.  We like the public and this is something we like to do, it is fun when someone comes back from a ride out in the desert and said they had a great time.  It makes us feel great.

All I have left to say is looking forward to picking my wife up at the airport tomorrow at 3:30 PM!!!!!!!

April 10th

Ha!!! someone tell this month to slow down, it is already the 10th.  It is flying by way to fast.  Before you know it we will be heading back to Washington for a short stay, then off to Coos Bay for the summer.  We will be leaving here on our about the 29th of April and hope to be in the Spanaway area by the 2nd or 3rd of May.  It has been warm and windy here at Salton Sea the last few days, and what I mean by windy like 50 plus miles and hour winds all day long.  I spent most of the day today cleaning the dust and fine sand out of the parts area, tomorrow I will go after the repair side of the shop.
Monday I put Cyndy on a plane to Washington to take care of a few Doctor appointments and personal stuff.  She will be back next Monday and not to soon for Turbo & I, he says their is someone missing from this bed at night.
Yep Nana is happy she is getting her time with Jared, I hope he gives her a lot of kiss's and hugs she needs it from here grand kids.
She even got hugs from our Daughter also, its good to see her smiling like that.  She really Miss's the kids and this is a special time for her.
I know Nana has been here also, MJ and Morgan got their gifts from Disney world, It looks like she got plenty of hugs from these to grand kids also.
The next few days will be lonely around here but I have plenty of work to do up at the shop, Steve made sure of that.  So let me see 19 days to go and of for the north we go.  The poor trailer as been sitting so long the tires will be flat on one side for a while, get them puppy's heated up and they will be round again.
That's about it for here now hope everyone is doing good and this summer if any of you are traveling by way of 101 north stop by Steve's ATV Rental and we can say hello.  We are located just north of Coos Bay by about 10 miles.

April 6th

It’s hard to believe we have been here already 6 months.  We were talking with the owners of the Hardware Store right next to our shop today about the temp.  They said that the three years they have been here this is the first spring that has been this hot so soon.  Wait a minute I don’t remember a winter let alone a spring, it feels like summer to this little fat boy already.  Today it got up to 90 plus a little bit.

We have to say this winter here at Salton City has been neat.  It was better than we had hoped for, we have made some great friend over it the Rivera district (it is a group that all live on Rivera street).  They believe in partying every weekend they come over.  This is what they call their winter get away homes out here in the district.  I will try and get some pictures in the next few days.

Cyndy leaves Monday afternoon for home, she will be there for a week so me and Turbo will have to fend for ourselves. She has some doctor appointments and other things she needs to take care of. When she gets back it will be time to start packing things up here and getting ready to leave at the end of the month.  By the way all the rest of next week iks going to be in the low 90’s, not to bad for the desert.

April 3rd

The weather is starting to get hot out here in the desert for this fat old white boy.  Today it was 95 degrees and the air on the trailer is working pretty good.  It is only 78 in here.  Anyway that plenty about the weather here, we are enjoying it while we can.
Last week we went out for a short ride in the evening and a couple that had been done here a few weeks back rolled Steve's Artic Cat and did a little bit of damage.  So we took them out to the rock they hit to cause this nice role over.
As you can see we named it Richards rock.

We had a good time, giving him a bad time about not see the rock!!!
Here we are heading up Coral Wash towards the telephone booth!!!
Some of these washes that we ride in are pretty deep, from the run off of water.

Where is this phone booth?
Not a bad picture of a couple out playing in the desert if I say so myself.
Is that the phone booth!!!

I will be darn, there it is, now to go and make a phone call.  Their is a way up to the top but we opt out the hill was just a little bit to much for our RZR's, the jeeps have really rutted the trail out.  There is a way around to get up to the top, but it is getting close to dark and we need to head back.  Another day and we will go up to the top.

This is looking down the way we came up to this spot.  See the trail way down their.

Yep, that's one of the hills we came over and there is more of them going back!!!!
OK. I have to advertise a little for the company we are working for!!!
We had a great ride and I am hoping we can get out a few more times be for we head north.
We also had some old friends stop by yesterday Brad & Sandy, I use to work with them and we did a lot of camping together when our kids were younger.  It was great to see them and we are hoping to get together before we head north.
