Historic East Coast Day 2

Today our trip begain by visiting Plymouth, MA. Our fist stop was Pilgrim Hall Museum.  We had a great tour guide at this museum and he really did a great job of telling us about the Pilgrims and how they prepared for new country and what they went through when they arrived here.
Pilgrim Hall Museum

Could you see yourself trying to protect yourself with this rifle or just shooting a deer for dinner tonight.  They had a lot of artifacts here from the time frame of when the Pilgrims landed in the new world.

This 6 board chest was what you put everything in that you owned for the trip to the new world.  Oh yah, this is the size that a family of 4 or 5 packet everything in.  That means that favorite pot or books.

The Pilgrims did like there beer.

This is a small peace of Plymouth rock.  Over the years with everyone taking a small peace of the rock.  They have put it behind a fence and out of the direct weather .

This is all that is left of the rock.

The rock is in this building and if you look real close you can see it through the top of this boat.
Our next tour was on the Mayflower II.
We were able to explore this boat and what was hard to believe that there were 102 Pilgrims on this boat and about 20 crew members.  You have to remember this was a cargo ship that took these Pilgrims to the new world.
This was the captains room.
This kind of shows you were these people were, they were not aloud up on the deck, so what little daylight they seen was from this area.
As you can see there was not much room to move around.
That bed is only about 2 feet wide, and doesn't it look like a bed I could sleep in.
After we left here we had time to have lunch on our own before we headed out for a whale watching trip.
Here are a few pictures of the whales we did get to see.  At one time we seen 7 whales swimming together.

It was a great trip and fun.  The weather was a so-so with a little rain and some nice rollers.  What a busy day but all and all it was good.  Tomorrow on to the Concord/Lexington.
